With so many outlets for news and opinions, I've created this site as a simple way to view the latest MLB-related news and analysis. REMEMBERING LOU GEHRIG


70 years ago tomorrow (May 2, 1939) Lou Gehrig walked the lineup card out to the umpire before the Yankees/Tigers game in Detroit. For the first time in 2,130 games, Gehrig's name was not on the lineup card. For 14 years he had played in every game. But he would not play in another game again. The Yankees won that game 22-2 as Gehrig watched from the dugout step. (see above) Two months later of July 4th, Gehrig gave his famous speech as he became the first player to ever have his number retired.
